Our Mission
The mission of Bethel Recovery Center/ Inc. is to provide a safe, sober and structured environment for women throughout Connecticut desiring continual support in their recovery.
Our Approach
Recovering addicts undergo an education component on the cycles of abuse and its impact on the family. Recovery is achieved through tools of 12-step programs, utilization of community resources and networking with various social service agencies in the community.
Referral Procedures
We accept referrals from drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, churches, hospitals and self-referrals.
Background
Bethel Recovery, located in Bridgeport was established in March 1991 by Janice Kelly, a Licensed Practical Nurse and recovered addict since 1986 who knows all too well the many obstacles her clients face. Kelly, the executive director, serves as a strong role model to women who enter the program. When a woman comes to the Bethel Recovery Center, Inc.,her life is in turmoil. She may have been homeless, HIV positive, have multiple diagnoses, or be in danger of losing her children. The women who come to Bethel often lack basic living skills, so self-sufficiency skills are taught. Some women have medical conditions that have been neglected and must be addressed.
